About Last Night...

Danny is a young man in Chicago who spends his nights in bars with his friend Bernie and rarely sees the same woman twice. When he meets Debbie, an advertising graphic designer, what begins as a casual encounter turns into something neither of them expected: by the next morning they both sense there is more between them than attraction, and they soon decide to move in together. Their friends Bernie and Joan doubt the relationship will last, and the couple's own differences, along with the pressures around them, put the arrangement to the test. The film is based on David Mamet's play Sexual Perversity in Chicago.

Edward Zwick directed this 1986 release, the first title in his filmography, from a screenplay by Denise DeClue and Tim Kazurinsky. Rob Lowe and Demi Moore play Danny and Debbie, with Jim Belushi as Bernie and Elizabeth Perkins as Joan, heading a credited cast of thirty-two. Made for about nine million dollars, it took in roughly thirty-nine million worldwide, a solid return for a romantic comedy-drama of its size.
