Frogs

Frogs is a 1972 American horror film about an aging, bad-tempered millionaire named Jason Crockett, who uses a wheelchair and lives on an island estate. For his birthday he gathers his family at the property, where he has long waged war on the local wildlife with pesticides and other chemicals. A freelance photographer working on a pollution story arrives on the island and witnesses the uneasy state of its animal life. The creatures of the surrounding swamp and grounds turn on the household, and the celebration becomes a fight to survive.

George McCowan directed, working from a screenplay by Robert Hutchison and Robert Blees. It was his third directorial feature, following Face-Off and The Magnificent Seven Ride! the same year. Ray Milland plays Jason Crockett, with Sam Elliott as photographer Pickett Smith, alongside Joan Van Ark, Adam Roarke, Judy Pace and Lynn Borden. The film was produced by American International Pictures and Peter Thomas Productions and runs 90 minutes. Its worldwide box office came to about 2 million dollars, a modest return for a low-budget genre release. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 10 from roughly 8,500 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 4.8 out of 10 from about 165 votes, indicating limited audience approval.
