Short description
Jozef visits a dilapidated Sanatorium to see his father. Jozef undertakes a strange journey through the many rooms of the sanatorium, each which conjures worlds composed of his memories, dreams and nightmares.
What's left behind the scenes
- Upon completion of filming, the movie was banned, but the director and screenwriter Wojciech Has secretly smuggled it to Cannes, using a fictional title for the sake of conspiracy. Following this, he was banned from filmmaking for eight years.
- Clepsydra is not only the name of an ancient water clock. In Poland, the word is also used to refer to obituaries posted in public places (a similar tradition exists in Bulgaria).
- Wojciech Has worked on this project for 5 years.
