Dead Weight

A prisoner named Moltès wins a large lottery jackpot, but he cannot claim the money because a prison guard, Reggio, has the winning ticket. After escaping from prison, Moltès discovers that Reggio does not have the ticket himself, as it was taken to Africa by Reggio's wife, Pauline. The two men form an unlikely alliance to track her down and recover the prize, facing pursuit from the police and criminals along the way.

This comedy is a joint production from France and the United Kingdom, produced by companies including Warner Bros. Pictures and France 2 Cinéma. The film was co-directed by Alain Berbérian and Frédéric Forestier. For Berbérian, this project followed his work on Fear City: A Family-Style Comedy and Six-Pack, and preceded The Corsican File. Forestier directed this after The Peacekeeper and before a series of films including Asterix at the Olympic Games, Open Season, The Infallibles, Open Season 2, and Les Bodin’s partent en vrille.
