Short description
Jon Aldrich is a successful businessman whose life begins to unravel when he welcomes his parents into his home. After his senile father accidentally burns down their residence in Florida, Jon must manage his elderly parents alongside his own family. This domestic arrangement coincides with a series of professional and personal crises, including the loss of his job and unwanted attention from the FBI.
Directed by Ted Kotcheff, this 1992 American comedy followed his 1989 works Weekend at Bernie's and Winter People. The film stars Tom Selleck as Jon, with Don Ameche and Anne Jackson playing his parents. The cast also includes Christine Ebersole, Wendy Crewson, and Michael Murphy.
The movie earned 6 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception was mixed, with a rating of 5.7/10 on IMDb based on 3,000 votes and a 5.5/10 on TMDB from 35 votes. Film critics gave the production a significantly lower score of 2.8/10 across 20 reviews.

- During Mildred's conversation in the bar, the sound of her voice and lip movements do not match.
- John calls Ed a "backstabbing pig" when he learns the FBI covered up the place he worked. However, it sounds as though the word "pig" was replaced with "prick" in post-production to achieve a PG-13 rating.
- Tom Selleck later explained the film's failure by the fact that it was released on the same weekend as the Los Angeles riots from April 29 to May 4, 1992, and also by the fact that he appeared in the film without a mustache, which had long been his trademark.
