The Enforcer

Kung Wei is a Chinese undercover agent whose wife and young son, Johnny, know nothing about his work. His assignment takes him to Hong Kong, where he infiltrates a triad and gains the trust of its boss, Po Kwong. When his cover is exposed, the gang turns on him and takes Johnny, leaving Wei to fight for his own survival and for his son's.

Released in Hong Kong in 1995, The Enforcer was directed by Corey Yuen, the ninth of the fourteen films he directed, following The Bodyguard from Beijing and preceding The Avenging Fist. Sandy Shaw and Wong Jing wrote the screenplay, and Wong Jing produced with Charles Heung. Jet Li plays Kung Wei, with Tse Miu as Johnny, Anita Mui as Inspector Fong, Yu Rongguang as Po Kwong, Blackie Ko Shou-Liang as Darkie and Damian Lau Chung-Yan as Yat-Wah's Boss. The film runs 104 minutes.

Audiences rate it moderately: 6.8/10 on IMDb and 6.7/10 on TMDB. Among critics, its score of 5.9/10 from twelve reviews is lower, so the film is regarded somewhat less favourably by reviewers than by general viewers, though the two positions remain close.
