The Undefeated

The Undefeated is a 1969 western set in the aftermath of the American Civil War. Former Union cavalry colonel John Henry Thomas and former Confederate colonel James Langdon each lead separate groups into Mexico. Thomas is driving a herd of horses to sell to the Mexican government, while Langdon is bringing displaced southerners who lost their property at home and hope to start over south of the border. When bandits and rebel forces threaten both parties, the two former enemies must set aside old loyalties and cooperate to bring their people through.

John Wayne plays Thomas and Rock Hudson plays Langdon, with Antonio Aguilar, Roman Gabriel, Marian McCargo and Lee Meriwether among the thirty-six credited cast members. Andrew V. McLaglen directed from a screenplay by James Lee Barrett, with Robert L. Jacks producing for 20th Century Fox. The film runs 119 minutes and was released in October 1969.
