Camelot

Camelot is a 1967 American musical adventure film based on the Broadway musical of the same name, which in turn draws on the medieval legends of King Arthur. Arthur has built Camelot and its Round Table as a realm governed by law and idealistic principles, gathering its finest knights. The arrival of the French knight Lancelot unsettles the court before he proves himself in a tournament and becomes close to the king. His love affair with Queen Guenevere, and the scheming of Arthur's illegitimate son Mordred, place the kingdom and its code of chivalry under threat.

Joshua Logan directed the film, the seventh of the eight features listed in his directing career, following Ensign Pulver and preceding Paint Your Wagon. Alan Jay Lerner wrote the screenplay, and Jack L. Warner produced. Richard Harris plays King Arthur, Vanessa Redgrave plays Guenevere, and Franco Nero plays Lancelot, with David Hemmings as Mordred and Laurence Naismith as Merlyn among the credited cast of 26.

Produced by Warner Bros-Seven Arts on a budget of 13 million dollars, the film took 31 million dollars at the worldwide box office. It runs three hours. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.6 out of 10 from around 8,100 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.2 out of 10 from 81 votes. A critics' rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 18 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
