Untamable Angelique
Short description
Set in France during the reign of Louis XIV, this adventure romance follows Angélique as she searches for her husband, Joffrey de Peyrac, after learning he survived his execution. Her journey takes her across the Mediterranean toward Sardinia. During her travels, she faces various perils, including capture by pirates and being sold at a slave market. While Joffrey also searches for her, their attempts to reunite are repeatedly interrupted by further abductions and conflicts at sea.
Directed by Bernard Borderie, the film is the third in a series of Angélique movies, following Angelique and Angelique: The Road to Versailles. Borderie also co-wrote the screenplay with Francis Cosne. The movie stars Michèle Mercier in the title role alongside Robert Hossein as Joffrey de Peyrac, with a credited cast of 25 actors.
Produced through a collaboration between companies in France, Italy, and Germany, the film earned 29 million USD at the worldwide box office. It is generally well-received by viewers, maintaining a rating of 6.5/10 on both IMDb, with 1,700 votes, and TMDB, with 117 votes.
