You and the Night

A young couple and their cross-dressing maid host an erotic gathering at their home starting at midnight. They invite four guests who use pseudonyms: The Slut, The Star, The Stud, and The Teen. As the night progresses, the participants share their personal desires and histories, revealing the emotional burdens and secrets hidden behind their personas. These vulnerabilities eventually lead to a collective sadness that the group attempts to resolve through intimacy.

Directed by Yann Gonzalez, this was the first of two films he directed, followed by Islands in 2017. The screenplay was written by Gonzalez and Rebecca Zlotowski. The movie features a cast including Kate Moran, Niels Schneider, and Nicolas Maury, with appearances by Éric Cantona, Fabienne Babe, and Alain-Fabien Delon. This French and Swiss co-production blends elements of comedy, drama, romance, and fantasy.
