Retired professional wrestler Sean Armstrong is hired to protect the children of an inventor whose work has drawn the attention of criminals. The job turns out to be less about guarding the man than about looking after his two children, who make a sport of driving away everyone sent to supervise them and turn their technical ingenuity against their new minder. When the threat to their father becomes real, their inventions and his strength prove useful in the same fight. The film is a family comedy built on the clash between a gentle giant and two unruly, gadget-loving kids.
Michael Gottlieb directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Edward Rugoff, and Robert Engelman produced. It was Gottlieb's third feature as director, following Mannequin and The Shrimp on the Barbie, and two years before A Kid in King Arthur's Court. Hulk Hogan leads as Sean Armstrong, with David Johansen as Thanatos, Madeline Zima and Robert Hy Gorman as the Mason children, Sherman Hemsley as Burt Wilson and Peter Kent as Wolfgang.
Made for a reported 10 million dollars, the film returned about 4 million worldwide, well short of its cost. On IMDb it holds a rating of 3.9 from roughly 11,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 5.1 from about 207 votes. A critics' score of 3.4 from 16 reviews places it below even the modest audience figures.
