The Monster of London City

Set in 1960s London, this mystery thriller follows a series of brutal murders that mirror the crimes of Jack the Ripper. As Scotland Yard struggles to identify the killer, a new West End play about the historical murderer becomes a major success. The leading actor, Richard Sand, finds himself under suspicion as the violent events overlap with his nightly performances on stage.

Directed by Edwin Zbonek, this was the first of two films he directed, followed by Schöne Seelen in 1966. The movie was produced by Artur Brauner through CCC Filmkunst and features a screenplay by Robert A. Stemmle and Bryan Edgar Wallace. The cast is led by Hansjörg Felmy, Marianne Koch, Hans Nielsen, Dietmar Schönherr, Fritz Tillmann, and Walter Pfeil.
