The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin

Set in the 1840s, this story follows Jack Flagg, a twelve-year-old from Boston who discovers his family is bankrupt after his grandfather's death. Hoping to recover their wealth, Jack sneaks onto a ship headed for the California Gold Rush. His sister, Arabella, sends their sophisticated butler, Griffin, to find the boy and bring him home. Upon arriving in San Francisco, Griffin and Jack are thrust into the chaotic world of gold seekers and outlaws, where the refined butler must adapt to the harsh environment of the Wild West.

Produced by Walt Disney and written by Lowell S. Hawley, the film was directed by James Neilson. This production is the third in a chronological list of Neilson's directorial work, following Night Passage and Bon Voyage!. The movie features a cast including Roddy McDowall, Suzanne Pleshette, Karl Malden, Harry Guardino, Richard Haydn, and Hermione Baddeley.
