Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders follows Mystery Inc. into the desert, where a flying saucer forces their vehicle off the road near a remote tracking station. Stranded in a small desert town, the gang finds the area crowded with UFO enthusiasts, secretive scientists and unfriendly visitors from space. Shaggy and Scooby are beamed aboard a spacecraft, and the mystery draws the group from a government research facility into a network of underground caverns beneath the town. The film mixes science fiction with the series' usual comic mystery, and adds a romance for Shaggy and Scooby amid the alien activity.
Jim Stenstrum directed this 2000 release, the third of the four Scooby-Doo animated features he made between 1998 and 2001, following Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island and Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost. Davis Doi and Lance Falk wrote the screenplay, with Doi also producing for Hanna-Barbera Productions. The voice cast includes Scott Innes as Scooby-Doo and Shaggy, Mary Kay Bergman as Daphne, B.J. Ward as Velma, Frank Welker as Fred, and Candi Milo and Neil Ross in supporting roles.
At 74 minutes, the film plays as a compact family mystery. On IMDb it holds a 6.9 rating from around 9,100 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.1 from roughly 428 votes, indicating a generally positive response from audiences across both platforms.
