Crónicas

Crónicas is a crime thriller about Manolo Bonilla, a Miami-based television journalist whose program broadcasts sensational stories across Latin America. Looking for a major scoop, he travels with his producer Marisa and cameraman Iván to a small town in Ecuador to report on a series of child murders attributed to a killer the press calls the "Monster of Babahoyo." As Bonilla pursues the story, his professional ambition and appetite for a headline push past acceptable limits, leading to tragic consequences.

The film is directed and written by Sebastián Cordero, his second feature following his debut, and it was produced by Alfonso Cuarón, Jorge Vergara and Isabel Dávalos. John Leguizamo plays Bonilla, with Damián Alcázar as Vinicio Cepeda, Leonor Watling as Marisa Iturralde, Alfred Molina as Victor Hugo Puente, José María Yázpik as Iván Suárez and Camilo Luzuriaga as Capitán Bolivar Rojas. It runs 108 minutes and was released in 2004.

Crónicas holds a 6.6 out of 10 critics' rating across 72 reviews, close to the 6.8 out of 10 it has on IMDb from around 3,600 votes, while its score on TMDB is 6.4 from a much smaller number of votes. Cordero went on to direct Pescador, Europa Report and Rosa's Waltz.
