Chinese Puzzle

Xavier Rousseau is a man in his forties living in Paris with his wife Wendy and their two children. When Wendy decides to move to New York, Xavier cannot accept being separated from his children, so he leaves France and follows them. Starting over in a new country, he tries to rebuild his life as a father while dealing with the complications that come with it, including old friends, a new relationship and the practical difficulties of settling in America.

Chinese Puzzle is a comedy-drama directed and written by Cédric Klapisch, who also produced it with Bruno Levy and Arlette Zylberberg. It is the third film in the series that began with The Spanish Apartment and continued with Russian Dolls, released in the years before this one, and it returns to characters established in those earlier films. Romain Duris leads the cast as Xavier, alongside Audrey Tautou, Cécile de France, Kelly Reilly and Sandrine Holt.

Released in December 2013, the film runs 117 minutes and was made in France and Belgium. It took about 17 million dollars worldwide, a modest result for a production of its scale. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.6 out of 10 from roughly 745 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 6.5 out of 10 from 67 reviews, showing that professional reviewers and general audiences responded to it in a similar way.
