Short description
Two Arkansas firefighters, Vince and Don, come into possession of a map showing where a fortune in stolen gold is hidden inside a derelict factory in East St. Louis. They head there hoping to claim it, unaware that the building is used by a local drug gang. When the two men witness the gang executing one of its own, they are spotted, and the factory turns into a battleground as they try to get out alive while the gang's leader, King James, and his henchman Savon disagree over how to deal with the intruders.
Walter Hill directed the film, working from a screenplay by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, with Neil Canton producing. It was released in December 1992 as Hill's fourteenth feature, arriving between Another 48 Hrs. and Geronimo: An American Legend. Bill Paxton and William Sadler play the firefighters, while Ice-T and Ice Cube appear as King James and Savon, alongside Art Evans and De'voreaux White.
Made for a budget of 14 million dollars, the film took in roughly 13 million worldwide, falling short of its cost. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.3 from about 15,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 6.3, from far fewer votes. A critics' score of 6.5 from 30 reviews places it slightly above the audience ratings on both sites.

- The film's original title was "Marauder".
- The film is partially based on the movie "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" (1948).
- John Zorn initially wrote all the music for the film. However, Walter Hill was not satisfied with his work and brought in Ry Cooder to rewrite the score.
- In the original script version, the character "Lucky" was named Lucy and was King James's friend. Also, Vince and Don were not from Fort Smith, Arkansas, but from Ashland, Kentucky.
