Haunted Honeymoon

Haunted Honeymoon is a 1986 comedy-mystery set in the world of old-time radio. Larry Abbot and Vickie Pearle are the stars of a popular radio horror programme, and their engagement has thrown Larry into a state of anxiety that threatens both his nerves and the show. In the hope of curing him, he takes Vickie to the family mansion in the countryside, where he intends to introduce her to his eccentric relatives. The household, however, is not simply odd: something darker is going on within its walls, and the reunion turns into a mystery the couple must navigate.

Gene Wilder directed the film, his third behind the camera after The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother (1975) and The Woman in Red (1984), and wrote the screenplay with Terence Marsh. Wilder stars as Larry opposite Gilda Radner as Vickie, with Dom DeLuise as Aunt Kate Abbot, Jonathan Pryce as Charles Abbot, Eve Ferret as Sylvia and Bryan Pringle as Pfister. Produced by Susan Ruskin for Orion Pictures, it runs 82 minutes.

Released on 25 July 1986 and made for a budget of 13 million dollars, the film returned around 8 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.7/10 from about 8,700 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.4/10 from 176 votes, indicating a modest reception from viewers.
