Michele Apicella is a mathematics teacher who has just taken a job at a school and who lives alone in a new apartment. Lonely and prone to neurotic habits, he occupies himself by watching the couples around him, keeping track of his neighbours and acquaintances from his terrace. Among them is a young pair whose relationship is coming apart. His attention shifts when Bianca, a French teacher at the school, arrives, and the two begin seeing each other. Their time together gives him a period of happiness and a measure of stability. Around the same time, a woman in the neighbourhood is found murdered, and a series of killings follows. Suspicion falls on Michele, and a police commissioner takes an interest in him.
Bianca is a 1984 Italian comedy, drama and mystery directed by Nanni Moretti, who also stars as Michele and shares the screenplay with Sandro Petraglia. It was produced by Achille Manzotti for Faso Film and Reteitalia and runs 96 minutes. Laura Morante plays Bianca, with Roberto Vezzosi as the commissioner and supporting turns from Remo Remotti, Claudio Bigagli and Enrica Maria Modugno among a credited cast of 27. The film is the earliest of eight features listed for Moretti, made long before Caro diario, The Son's Room and the later films.
On TMDB it holds a rating of 7.5 out of 10 from more than four hundred votes, a solid showing for a four-decade-old Italian release.
