Incarnate

Dr. Seth Ember is not a traditional exorcist. Rather than relying on church rituals, he has developed a method of entering the subconscious mind of a possessed person and confronting the evil force there directly. When he takes on the case of a young boy whose mind has been taken over by a powerful demon, Ember finds himself facing an entity he has encountered before, one connected to a tragedy in his own past.

The film stars Aaron Eckhart as Ember, alongside Carice van Houten, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Keir O'Donnell and Natalija Nogulich. It was directed by Brad Peyton, whose earlier credits include Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and San Andreas; Incarnate was his fourth feature, followed later by Rampage and Atlas. Ronnie Christensen wrote the screenplay, and the production involved Blumhouse Productions, IM Global and WWE Studios.

Released in December 2016, the film runs 87 minutes and is a horror thriller from the United States. Made on a budget of 5 million dollars, it earned roughly 9 million dollars worldwide. Audience responses have been modest: on IMDb it holds 5.3 out of 10 from around 15,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.4 out of 10 from about 610 votes. A critics' rating of 3.6 out of 10, drawn from 34 reviews, is notably lower than the audience scores.
