My Friends Act III

My Friends Act III is an Italian comedy about four elderly friends who have never outgrown their taste for practical jokes. Age has caught up with Necchi, Melandri, Mascetti and Sassaroli, and the widowed Count Mascetti now uses a wheelchair after a stroke. When his companions install him in an upmarket retirement home, the place becomes their new playground, and the residents and staff are drawn into their schemes. The three eventually join him there and carry on as before, working toward one last elaborate prank on the home's guests.

The film is the third entry in the series that began with Mario Monicelli's 1975 comedy, and it is directed by Nanni Loy, whose earlier features include Il marito and Strange Occasion. Leonardo Benvenuti, Piero De Bernardi and Tullio Pinelli wrote the screenplay, and the central quartet returns: Ugo Tognazzi, Gastone Moschin, Adolfo Celi and Renzo Montagnani, joined by Mario Feliciani and Franca Tamantini. It was produced by Luigi and Aurelio De Laurentiis through Filmauro and runs 110 minutes.

Released in June 1985, the film rates 6.3 out of 10 on IMDb from around 1,800 votes and 6.4 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 219 votes. The two audience scores sit close together, indicating a modest but consistent welcome for this late chapter of the series.
