Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man

In a near-future, lawless California, a biker named Harley Davidson and his friend Robert Lee Anderson, known as the Marlboro Man, learn that a corrupt bank intends to take over a bar belonging to someone they know. They decide to help by robbing the bank's armored truck, but they seize the wrong vehicle and end up with a shipment of drugs instead of cash. Pursued by the banker's men, the two find themselves in a running confrontation in this action thriller.

Simon Wincer directed the film, the sixth of thirteen he made in chronological order, following Quigley Down Under and preceding Free Willy. Don Michael Paul wrote the screenplay and produced alongside Jere Henshaw and Missy Alpern. Mickey Rourke plays Harley, with Don Johnson as the Marlboro Man, and Chelsea Field, Daniel Baldwin, Giancarlo Esposito and Vanessa Williams among the thirty credited cast members.

Released in August 1991, the film runs 98 minutes. Made for around 23 million dollars, it returned roughly 7 million worldwide, a fraction of its cost. On IMDb it holds 6.1/10 from about 25,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.3/10 from around 500 votes; a film critics' rating of 4.4/10 from 22 reviews places it well below the audience scores.
