Ghost
Short description
Ghost follows a New York couple, Sam Wheat and Molly Jensen, whose life together is shattered when Sam is killed during a street robbery. Rather than passing on, Sam lingers as a spirit, invisible and inaudible to the living, and comes to understand that his death was not the random crime it appeared to be. Worse, Molly herself is now in danger, and Sam has no way to warn her until he turns to Oda Mae Brown, a storefront medium whose powers are realer than she lets on.
Jerry Zucker directed the film, the fourth in the run of features he made after Airplane!, Top Secret! and Ruthless People, from a screenplay by Bruce Joel Rubin. Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore play the couple, Whoopi Goldberg plays Oda Mae, and Tony Goldwyn, Vincent Schiavelli and Rick Aviles appear in supporting roles. The production, backed by Paramount, carried a budget of about 22 million dollars and went on to earn roughly 505 million worldwide.
On IMDb the film holds a 7.1 rating from around 255,000 votes, and on TMDB a 7.2 from a much smaller base of about 6,200. A critics' rating of 6.9 from 82 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
