Set in England during the 16th century, this story follows a crown prince and a poor boy named Mickey who discover they are identical. While the king is incapacitated by illness, a corrupt captain of the guard seizes control of the kingdom to exploit the people. Bored with his royal duties, the prince convinces Mickey to trade places so they can each experience a different way of life. However, the situation becomes complicated as the prince faces the hardships of poverty and Mickey must navigate the dangers of the royal court.
Directed by George Scribner, this was his second film following Oliver & Company. The production was handled by Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Feature Animation. The voice cast features Wayne Allwine in the dual roles of Mickey Mouse and the prince, alongside Arthur Burghardt as Captain Pete. Other contributors include Tony Anselmo as Donald Duck and Bill Farmer, who provided voices for Goofy, Pluto, and Horace Horsecollar.
