The Tesseract

Four strangers converge on a run-down hotel in Bangkok over the course of a single day. A British man is waiting for a deal to go through. A hitwoman lies bleeding a floor away. A psychologist checks in at the front desk, still carrying the grief of her son's death. A young bellboy works the corridors, stealing from guests. Their separate paths cross and shift each other's course, with the action moving between past and present.

Oxide Pang Chun directed the film, working from a screenplay he wrote with Patrick Neate, whose novel is the source. It sits between his two earlier horror features, The Eye and The Eye 2, and The Messengers, and is the third of the eleven titles listed among his directing credits. The cast includes Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Saskia Reeves, Alexander Rendell, Carlo Nanni, Lena Christensen and Veradis Vinyarath. The production was a British, Thai and Japanese co-production running 93 minutes.

Audience response has been modest. On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 5.2 from around 1,400 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 4.8 from a much smaller sample of 21 votes. Both figures suggest a divided reaction rather than broad approval, and the differing sample sizes mean the two scores are not directly comparable.
