4D Man

Two scientist brothers, Scott and Tony Nelson, build a device that lets a person shift into a fourth-dimensional state and move through solid matter. Scott tries the experiment on himself and finds that every passage through an object leaves him aging at a rapid rate. To hold off the physical decline, he begins draining the life energy from other people, restoring his own youth at their expense.

The film was directed by Irvin S. Yeaworth Jr., who had made The Blob the year before and would follow this with Dinosaurus! in 1960. Theodore Simonson and Cy Chermak wrote the screenplay, and Yeaworth produced alongside Jack H. Harris. Robert Lansing plays Scott, with James Congdon as his brother Tony, Lee Meriwether as Linda Davis and Patty Duke as Marjorie Sutherland. It runs 85 minutes.

Released in October 1959, the film sits between the director's two other science-fiction productions. Audiences have been modest in their praise: it holds a rating of 5.8 on IMDb from around 2,400 votes and the same score on TMDB from a much smaller pool of 61. A film critics' rating of 5.5 from five reviews places it close to the audience scores rather than setting it apart.
