Universal Soldier: Regeneration

Universal Soldier: Regeneration is an action science fiction film set largely around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, where a militant nationalist has taken control and threatens to release radioactive material unless his demands are met. A secret government team of revived UniSols is sent to retake the site and disarm the explosives, and among them is Luc Deveraux, the soldier at the centre of the earlier films in the series. He finds that the opposing side includes Andrew Scott, his old sergeant and adversary, as well as a more advanced UniSol whose abilities make him difficult to stop.

The film was directed by John Hyams, his first entry in this series and the earliest of the features credited to him here, ahead of Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, Dragon Eyes, Alone and Sick. Victor Ostrovsky wrote the screenplay, and the producers were Craig Baumgarten, Peter Hyams and Moshe Diamant. Jean-Claude Van Damme plays Luc Deveraux and Dolph Lundgren appears as Andrew Scott, with Andrei Arlovski as the new-generation soldier and Mike Pyle, Corey Johnson and Garry Cooper in supporting roles. The production had a budget of about ten million dollars.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.3 from roughly 27,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.7 from around 511 votes. The large gap in the number of votes between the two reflects how much wider the audience is on the former platform.
