A struggling traveling carnival is close to shutting down when four small, bloodthirsty creatures hide aboard one of its trucks. The monsters take up residence inside the fairground's haunted house attraction, and when visitors mistake them for part of the show, the ride becomes a hit. The carnival's owners, Larry and his uncle Ned, soon find that the creatures are real and dangerous, and the pair must stop them before the fair's patrons become their victims.
Ghoulies II is a 1987 American comedy-horror film directed by Albert Band, who also produced it, from a screenplay by Dennis Paoli. It is the second entry in the Ghoulies series and the first of the two features Band directed, followed by Doctor Mordrid in 1992. The cast includes Damon Martin as Larry, Royal Dano as Uncle Ned, Phil Fondacaro as Sir Nigel Pennyweight, J. Downing, Kerry Remsen and Dale Wyatt, among 23 credited performers.
The film runs 90 minutes and was released in the United States on July 31, 1987, produced by Empire Pictures and Taryn Productions Inc. Its reception has been modest: on IMDb it holds a rating of 4.7 from around 6,200 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.5 from roughly 162 votes. The small vote counts on both platforms indicate a cult following rather than broad viewership, with audiences regarding it as a minor entry in the series.
