Moon 44

In 2038, Earth's natural resources have been exhausted, and competing corporations fight over the remaining mineral deposits on distant moons. The Galactic Mining Corporation operates automated robots that extract ore and carry it back to Earth, but the machines have begun vanishing from a mining facility on Moon 44. With no one else willing to take the assignment, the corporation sends a group of convicts to the station, and among them is Felix Stone, an undercover agent investigating the disappearances. On the station he finds himself caught between rival factions, and the station commander, Major Lee, has his own orders regarding the value of the robots relative to the people under his command.

Moon 44 is a German science fiction film directed by Roland Emmerich, the first of the fifteen features he has directed, followed by Universal Soldier in 1992. Dean Heyde and Oliver Eberle wrote the screenplay, and Emmerich produced with Ute Emmerich and Heyde. Michael Paré plays Stone, alongside Lisa Eichhorn, Dean Devlin, Brian Thompson, Malcolm McDowell as Major Lee and Leon Rippy, in a cast of twenty-four credited performers supported by fifty credited crew members.

Released in February 1990, the film runs 98 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.1 from around 6,300 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 5.1 from roughly 156 votes; a critics' rating of 3.8 from six reviews places it below those audience scores.
