The Boss Baby

Seven-year-old Tim has been the only child in his household, the centre of his parents' attention, until they bring home a new baby brother who arrives in a suit, carrying a briefcase and speaking like a seasoned businessman. Tim is the only one who sees through the infant's act, and the two spend their days scheming against each other while their parents remain oblivious. What begins as sibling rivalry eventually turns into an uneasy partnership, as the brothers work together to stop a shady businessman whose plans threaten both of them. Tim narrates the story as an adult looking back, and his account is deliberately unreliable.

The film is directed by Tom McGrath, whose previous features were Madagascar, its two sequels, and Megamind. It was written by Michael McCullers and produced by Ramsey Ann Naito and Denise Nolan Cascino for DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox. The voice cast includes Miles Bakshi as Tim, Alec Baldwin as the Boss Baby, Jimmy Kimmel and Lisa Kudrow as the parents, Steve Buscemi as Francis Francis, and Tobey Maguire as the adult Tim.

Released in March 2017, the film cost about 125 million dollars and took roughly 528 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 6.3/10 from around 157,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.4/10 from about 7,600 votes, while the critics' score sits lower at 5.5/10 from 179 reviews. A sequel followed in 2021.
