Vampire Circus

In nineteenth-century central Europe, the people of a small village execute Count Mitterhouse, a depraved nobleman responsible for a series of murders. Before dying, he curses those who killed him. Fifteen years later the village suffers an epidemic, and a travelling circus arrives to distract the frightened residents with its performances. Some of the circus people are vampires, and they intend to carry out the dead count's curse.

Vampire Circus is a British horror film from Hammer Film Productions, released in 1972 and running 87 minutes. It was the first feature directed by Robert Young, whose later films include The Worst Witch, Fierce Creatures, Jane Eyre, Captain Jack, Blood Monkey and Eichmann. Judson Kinberg wrote the screenplay, Wilbur Stark produced, and the cast of 26 includes Adrienne Corri as the Gypsy Woman, Thorley Walters as the Burgermeister, Anthony Higgins as Emil, John Moulder-Brown as Anton Kersh, Laurence Payne as Prof. Albert Mueller and Richard Owens as Dr. Kersh.

The film holds a rating of 6.3 out of 10 on IMDb from around 5,500 votes, and 5.9 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 6.3 out of 10 from six reviews places professional opinion in line with the general audience response on IMDb, while TMDB users rate it slightly lower.
