Vision Quest

Louden Swain is a high school wrestler who decides he needs to accomplish something that matters. He sets out to lose weight and take on the area's undefeated champion, a goal that strains his health and puts him at odds with his teammates. His father takes in Carla, a young woman passing through town on her way to San Francisco, and Louden falls for her, which complicates his training and his plans.

The film was directed by Harold Becker, its release following Taps and preceding The Boost in his filmography. Darryl Ponicsan wrote the screenplay, and Peter Guber and Jon Peters produced. Matthew Modine plays Louden, with Linda Fiorentino as Carla, Ronny Cox as his father Larry, Daphne Zuniga as Margie Epstein, Charles Hallahan as the coach, and Michael Schoeffling as Kuch.
