The film's plot was overheard by Winterberg from a radio listener who was recounting a scandal that had occurred in his family on live radio.
After the film was released, the radio station arranged a face-to-face meeting between Winterberg and this listener, where he confessed that nothing like that had happened in his family and he had made it all up.
Thomas Winterberg played the role of a taxi driver who gave Gbatoeka, Helen's boyfriend, a ride.
During lunch, the cinematographer found it difficult to adhere to the 'Dogme' rule of using a handheld camera – he was replaced by one of the actors sitting at the table.
