Bad Company

A CIA operation to buy a stolen nuclear device goes wrong when agent Kevin Pope is killed during a meeting with the sellers. To keep his death from becoming known and the deal from collapsing, the agency turns to Kevin's twin brother Jake, a streetwise small-time hustler who never knew he had a sibling. With only about nine days before the exchange, the CIA assigns veteran agent Gaylord Oakes to turn Jake into a convincing stand-in, teaching him how to carry himself like Kevin and handle the weapons and language the role demands. The mismatched pair must work through their differences while dealing with the criminals involved.

Joel Schumacher directed the film, the fourteenth of the twenty-one features listed in his chronological filmography, following Tigerland and preceding Phone Booth. Michael Browning and Jason Richman wrote the screenplay, and Jerry Bruckheimer produced. Anthony Hopkins plays Oakes and Chris Rock takes on the dual role of Jake Hayes and Kevin Pope, with Gabriel Macht, Peter Stormare, John Slattery and Kerry Washington among the supporting cast.

Released in June 2002, the film was made for a budget of 70 million dollars and returned about 66 million dollars worldwide. Audience response has been modest: it holds a rating of 5.6 out of 10 on IMDb from almost 50,000 votes, and 5.5 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller number of votes.
