The Curse

The Curse is a Brazilian horror film centered on a young couple, Marina and Juvenal. While walking through the countryside, they stop to take photographs in front of a residence. This action irritates the elderly woman living there, who reveals herself to be a witch and places a curse on the pair. This spell manifests as a wound that requires raw meat to sustain itself.

The movie was directed by José Mojica Marins, who also served as a producer and played the character Coffin Joe. This project follows his earlier directorial works, which include At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul from 1964, The Virgin and the Tough Guy from 1974, and Perversion from 1979. The screenplay was written by Rubens Francisco Lucchetti. The cast features Wanda Kosmo and Luah Guimarães as the old woman, with Sílvia Gless and Felipe Von Rhein playing the couple.

Released in November 2021 with a runtime of 52 minutes, the film was produced by Heco Produções and Produções Cinematográficas Zé do Caixão. Audience reception is mixed across different platforms. On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.5/10 based on 125 votes, while it has a significantly lower score of 3.3/10 on TMDB from 3 votes.
