When their regular childcare provider cancels at the last minute, Dan and Joyce Thompson hire a replacement named Anna to watch their children while they celebrate their anniversary. The children initially enjoy the new sitter because she ignores their parents' rules regarding food and toys. However, as the evening progresses, the woman's behavior becomes increasingly erratic, leading the children to realize that she is not who she claims to be and has sinister intentions.
