My Little Pony: The Movie

A threat descends on Ponyville when the Storm King and his lieutenant Tempest Shadow arrive with their troops, aiming to strip the princesses of Equestria of their magic and take control of the land. Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends — Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity — set out beyond their home to find help, pursued by Tempest Shadow and encountering new companions and perils along the way. Their journey tests the bond between them as they work to save everything they hold dear.

The film is directed by Jayson Thiessen, who had previously directed the two Equestria Girls features, Rainbow Rocks and the first Equestria Girls, along with several shorter works in the same franchise; this is the fifth title in his directing filmography. Rita Hsiao, Meghan McCarthy and Michael Vogel wrote the screenplay. The voice cast includes Tara Strong as Twilight Sparkle, Ashleigh Ball as Applejack and Rainbow Dash, Andrea Libman as Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, Tabitha St. Germain as Rarity among other roles, Cathy Weseluck as Spike, and Emily Blunt as Tempest Shadow, across a credited cast of 26.

Produced on a budget of six million US dollars, the film went on to earn about sixty million worldwide, a return well above its cost. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.1 from roughly 8,900 votes, while on TMDB its rating stands at 7.3 from 435 votes. A critics' score of 5.2 from 66 reviews places it below the audience ratings on both platforms.
