Border Incident

Two agents, one Mexican and one American, are assigned to shut down an operation that smuggles Mexican farm laborers across the border into California. The Mexican agent, Pablo Rodriguez, poses as a poor laborer to get inside the gang, while his American counterpart, Jack Bearnes, works from the other side. Their investigation leads them to a wealthy landowner, Owen Parkson, who is the real force behind the racket.

This crime drama was directed by Anthony Mann, the fifth of the twenty films he directed in chronological order, following Raw Deal and preceding Winchester '73. John C. Higgins wrote the screenplay, and Nicholas Nayfack produced it for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Ricardo Montalban plays Pablo Rodriguez, with George Murphy as Jack Bearnes, Howard Da Silva as Owen Parkson, James Mitchell as Juan Garcia, Arnold Moss as Zopilote, and Alfonso Bedoya as Cuchillo. Forty-five cast members are credited.

The film runs 94 minutes and was released on October 28, 1949. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.9 out of 10 from 47 votes, a modest score based on a small number of viewers.
