Rendez-vous

Nina, a young woman from the provinces, arrives in Paris hoping to become an actress. She lodges with Paulot, a reserved estate agent who falls for her, and his roommate Quentin, an actor whose volatile nature draws her in. A demanding theatre director, Scrutzler, casts her in a staging of Romeo and Juliet, and the emotional upheavals of her private life feed into her work as the production takes shape.

The film is directed by André Téchiné, who wrote the screenplay with Olivier Assayas. Juliette Binoche plays Nina, with Wadeck Stanczak as Paulot, Lambert Wilson as Quentin and Jean-Louis Trintignant as Scrutzler. It was Téchiné's second feature of the seven listed, following The Bronte Sisters and preceding I Don't Kiss.

Released in 1985, Rendez-vous runs 82 minutes. Its worldwide box office came to about 1 million USD. On IMDb it holds 6.4/10 from roughly 3,400 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.6/10 from 84 votes, a modest figure from a much smaller sample.
