Ballerina

Ballerina follows Félicie, a young orphan in Brittany whose only real passion is dance. With her friend Victor, an aspiring inventor, she leaves the orphanage for Paris in 1879, where the two are separated and she must manage on her own. Determined to train at the Grand Opera house, she takes on another girl's identity to secure a place as a pupil, and finds herself competing against better-prepared rivals for a spot that few keep. Set against a Paris where the Eiffel Tower is still under construction, the film blends adventure, comedy and music as Félicie works to prove she belongs on stage.

The film is a Canadian-French animated production directed by Eric Summer and Éric Warin, written by Carol Noble and produced by Valérie d'Auteuil, André Rouleau and Nicolas Duval Adassovsky. It was the first of two features the directors made together, followed by Charlotte in 2022. Elle Fanning voices Félicie, with Dane DeHaan as Victor in the original version and Nat Wolff in the US version, alongside Carly Rae Jepsen, Maddie Ziegler and, in the US version, Mel Brooks.

Made for about 30 million USD, it took roughly 84 million USD worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 6.8/10 from around 27,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.2/10 from about 2,030 votes. A critics' rating of 5.2/10 from 90 reviews sits below both audience scores.
