Short description
He's All That is a teen comedy about Padgett Sawyer, a social media influencer whose life is upended when a livestreamed humiliation goes viral. Determined to rebuild her image and get back at her ex-boyfriend, she makes a bet that she can turn an unpopular classmate, Cameron Kweller, into prom king. What begins as a calculated scheme gradually becomes something more complicated as the two grow closer.
The film is a remake of the 1999 teen movie She's All That, with R. Lee Fleming Jr., a writer on the original, returning for the screenplay. It is directed by Mark Waters, the twelfth of the fifteen features he has directed in chronological order, arriving between Magic Camp and Mother of the Bride. Addison Rae, known as a social media personality, leads the cast as Padgett, with Tanner Buchanan as Cameron. Rachael Leigh Cook, a star of the 1999 film, appears here as Padgett's mother, alongside Matthew Lillard, Madison Pettis and Peyton Meyer. The production involved 39 credited cast members and 53 credited crew, and it runs 91 minutes.
Released in August 2021, the film drew a critics' rating of 4 out of 10 from 58 reviews. On IMDb it holds 4.4 out of 10 from roughly 32,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.5 out of 10 from about 1,500 votes, a noticeable gap between the two audiences.
