The Last Flight of Noah's Ark

A down-on-his-luck pilot named Noah Dugan agrees to fly a small missionary and her cargo of animals to a distant Pacific island, mainly to get away from the bookmakers he owes money to. What he does not know is that two children from the missionary's orphanage have stowed away on board. A navigational problem throws the plane far off course, forcing a crash landing on a deserted island, where the group discovers two Japanese soldiers who have been living there since the Second World War and are unaware that the conflict ended decades ago. To get everyone home, they must turn the wrecked aircraft into a seaworthy vessel, with the animals brought along for the voyage.

The film was directed by Charles Jarrott, released in 1980 as the fifth of the six features listed for him, arriving between Lost Horizon and Condorman. Walt Disney Productions produced it, with Ron Miller and Jan Williams producing and a screenplay credited to Ernest K. Gann, Steven W. Carabatsos and George Arthur Bloom. Elliott Gould plays Noah, Geneviève Bujold plays Bernadette Lafleur, and Ricky Schroder and Tammy Lauren appear as the stowaway children, alongside John Fujioka and Vincent Gardenia.

It is a family adventure running just over an hour and a half. The worldwide box office came to about 11 million dollars. On IMDb it holds 5.7 out of 10 from around 1,700 votes, and on TMDB 5.6 out of 10 from a much smaller pool of 61 votes, so audience responses are modest and broadly consistent across the two.
