Snake & Crane Arts of Shaolin

Snake & Crane Arts of Shaolin centres on Hsu Yin-Fung, a young martial artist who comes into possession of a book describing a fighting style created by eight Shaolin masters. When those masters disappear, the book becomes the object of a frantic hunt, and Hsu finds himself pursued by rival clans and killers who will stop at nothing to take it from him. He sets out to survive their attacks and to uncover what really happened to the men who wrote the text.

The film was directed by Charlie Chen Chi-Hwa, who had previously made Shaolin Wooden Men and I Want More!, and followed this with Half a Loaf of Kung Fu later the same year. Jackie Chan plays Hsu Yin-Fung, with Nora Miao as Tang Pin-Er, Lee Lee as Master Chin of the Black Dragon Gang, Kim Chung-ran as Hung Chu, Lee Yeong-Guk as Shi Ping-Fang and Lau Nga-Ying as Lady Sun. It was produced by Hsu Li-Hwa from a screenplay by Chang Hsin-Yi, and made by Lo Wei Motion Picture Co. in Hong Kong and Taiwan with a credited cast of twenty-seven.

On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.5 out of 10 from ninety-three votes, a reception that suggests a modest but steady interest in one of Chan's early leading roles.
