Henri Serin is an umbrella salesman and amateur painter who feels suffocated by his rigid wife and strained family life. To escape his tedious routine, he pursues romantic affairs during his professional travels. Eventually, Henri decides to abandon his former life entirely. He settles in Pont-Aven, where he befriends Émile, a local artist who mimics the style of Gauguin. Together, the two men spend their time drinking and pursuing women.

Directed and written by Joël Séria, this 1975 French production is the second film in the director's career, following Don't Deliver Us from Evil.
