Stranger in Our House

A teenage girl named Rachel lives with her family on their country farm. When her cousin Julia is left without parents after a car crash, the family takes the girl in. Rachel soon comes to believe that Julia is not the innocent she appears to be, and that her arrival is connected to a run of misfortune that strikes the household and the people close to Rachel. The two cousins are set against each other as the rest of the family is won over by the visitor.

Wes Craven directed the film, the third of the twenty-five features listed for him, following The Hills Have Eyes and preceding Deadly Blessing. Linda Blair plays Rachel, with Lee Purcell as Julia, Jeremy Slate and Carol Lawrence as Rachel's parents, and Jeff McCracken and Jeff East among the credited cast of twenty-two. The film was produced by Bill and Patricia Finnegan and made for television, running ninety-nine minutes.

Audience response has been middling: on IMDb it holds 5.5 out of 10 from around 3,600 votes, and on TMDB 5.3 out of 10 from a much smaller base of 116. A critics' rating of 4.9 out of 10 from five reviews places it close to those viewer figures, with neither group rating it highly.
