Short description
A French man spies on a lovely younger woman across the way. When he's spotted by the woman shortly after being questioned by the police about a local murder, the man's simple life becomes more complicated.
What's left behind the scenes
- A film adaptation of Georges Simenon's novel 'Monsieur Girard's Engagement'.
- The street scenes were filmed in various towns across France and Belgium so that the viewer could not associate the setting with one specific city. The interiors were filmed in a studio.
- A key scene, in which Alice first enters the neighbor's room, was lost during laboratory film processing and had to be reshot.
