Jacek climbs into the taxi driven by Waldemar, tells him to drive to a remote location, then brutally strangles him, seemingly without motive.

Krzysztof Kieślowski's (1941-1996) film touched upon the theme of violence so profoundly that the Polish authorities declared a five-year moratorium on the death penalty.
Unique green filters were used during filming, specifically created for this film by cinematographer Sławomir Idziak. Filming some shots required the use of several such filters at once (up to three simultaneously). According to director and screenwriter Krzysztof Kieślowski (1941-1996), Idziak created approximately 600 filters in total.
