Exit Through the Gift Shop

Exit Through the Gift Shop is a documentary about Thierry Guetta, a French shopkeeper living in Los Angeles who films nearly everything around him. Through his cousin, the street artist INVADER, Guetta is drawn into the world of street art and begins recording the people who make it, eventually meeting the British artist Banksy. Banksy has long guarded his anonymity, so he was reluctant to be filmed. The situation changes when Banksy turns the camera around and asks Guetta to make his own film, with unexpected results.

Officially credited simply as a film by Banksy, the documentary marks the artist's move into feature filmmaking. Rhys Ifans narrates, and the cast includes Guetta, Banksy, Shepard Fairey, INVADER and Debora Guetta among 40 credited participants. Jaimie D'Cruz produced it for Oscilloscope, Paranoid Pictures and KEO Films, and it runs 86 minutes.
