Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day

Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day captures a reunion more than a quarter of a century in the making. In December 2007, the band's three surviving founding members, guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant and bassist John Paul Jones, took the stage at London's O2 Arena, joined by drummer Jason Bonham, son of their late drummer John Bonham. The occasion was a tribute concert for Ahmet Ertegun, the Atlantic Records founder and friend of the group, and the set drew on sixteen songs from across their career. Demand for tickets far outstripped the venue's capacity, and the performance became one of the most widely discussed rock reunions of its era.

Dick Carruthers directed the concert film, his first feature, having previously worked with the band on an earlier live release. Jimmy Page, Carruthers and Jim Parsons produced. The film documents the concert itself rather than adding interviews or commentary, running just over two hours. Made for about a million dollars, it took roughly ten million dollars worldwide, a strong return for a music documentary.

Audience response has been warm: on IMDb it holds 8.7 out of 10 from around 2,900 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 8.2 from a much smaller pool of votes. Carruthers went on to direct concert films for Bryan Adams and Oasis in 2024 and for Josh Groban in 2026.
