Champagne for Caesar

Beauregard Bottomley is a brilliant, unemployed man who lives quietly with his sister Gwenn and a talking parrot. When he applies for a job at Burnbridge Waters' soap company, Waters dismisses him rudely. To get even, Bottomley enters a television quiz show sponsored by that same company, where every correct answer doubles his winnings, and he sets out to keep winning until the businessman is ruined. As his run turns him into a media sensation, Waters calls on the scheming Flame O'Neill to find a weakness he can exploit.

Richard Whorf directed the film, his second feature after It Happened in Brooklyn in 1947, from a screenplay by Hans Jacoby and Frederick Brady. Ronald Colman plays Bottomley and Celeste Holm plays Flame O'Neill, with Vincent Price as Waters, Barbara Britton as Gwenn, and Art Linkletter as quiz host Happy Hogan. George Moskov produced the comedy, which runs 99 minutes and was released in the United States in May 1950 through United Artists and Cardinal Pictures, with 32 credited cast members.
